Lyndsay Macdonald - Marketing Manager
"There are lots of opportunities in Princes to develop and gain experience and with so many different aspects to my job, the work never gets boring!"
My name is Lyndsay Macdonald and having previously worked in a magazine company in London, which is quite a niche sector, I found myself relocating to the North West. I was looking to get into the FMCG sector which would provide wider opportunities within a fast-paced environment, which I’ve been used to. Princes is one of the biggest companies in this sector within the North West so I thought it could help open doors for me and give me good experience for later life.
I began my career in Princes as the Business Intelligence Manager and gained a huge amount of experience through being involved in business strategy, and having many touch-points within the business meant that I learnt about all aspects of food manufacturing, however I soon realised that my background was more suited to a commercial marketing role and the company were supportive of this move. I became the Marketing Manager for Canned Ready Meals, Pies and Pots within the Food Manufacturing team working primarily with the Chichester site which produces both brand and own label products. It’s not always easy to move within a company but I’m proud of the way I handled it, managing internal relationships and picking up the new role quickly to take responsibility for one of the most profitable sectors within the Group,
I am now profit responsible for my products and help to create the budgets and strategic business plans for my areas. I also complete and present category reviews to retailers on my products and the markets they sit within, making ranging recommendations and providing insights into the category. I am also Brand Manager for Princes and Hungerbreaks within my categories, creating promotional plans and developing NPD project ideas alongside the NPD management team.
There are lots of opportunities in Princes to develop and gain experience and with so many different aspects to my job, the work never gets boring! I deal with lots of different people, from sales to buying to the Chichester site and there’s always something different to do every day.
