Jonathan Dzakpata - Continuous Improvement Coordinator
"It has been a real opportunity to influence change through the training of various lean principles to our current and future manufacturing leadership"
My name is Jonathan Dzakpata and I started working with Princes in June 2014 as the Manufacturing Continuous Improvement Coordinator/Manager at the Bradford site and I really like working for a forward-looking business. As the Bradford site CI Coordinator, I am the Manager responsible for manufacturing continuous improvement; including the delivery of CI training on the site.
It is impressive to see a number of significant on-going Investments into the business, especially the Bradford site. Coupled with the fact that the business had a designated management role to focus and drive continuous improvement across the business. We commenced with a cross functional daily board walk involving the middle management team under our PEOPLE–PROCESS-TECHNOLOGY banner to increase engagement with the various shop floor teams across the site. However, getting everybody involved was challenging, due to the daily demands on people’s time, and the cross functional group required on a daily basis.
I am most proud of my involvement in the New Princes Learning Academy. It has been a real opportunity to influence change through the training of various lean principles to our current and future manufacturing leadership – thereby contributing to the shaping of the future of our business, making it more competitive now and in the future. I am responsible for liaising with the Group CI manager to deliver/facilitate CI training for the other manufacturing sites with the group through Princes Learning Academy, which the Bradford site hosts.
We have a great team of people here with good work ethics, and strong business values. You can literally feel the momentum of forward thinking within the business.
Doing an 80mile round trip, 5 times each week, is something I have done with ease since joining the business because Princes is a great place to work, and the exciting daily challenges I find in my work. It is particularly exciting for me here on the Bradford site to be part of the “Good to Great” journey the site has embarked on, and to see enabling environment and energy it is generating among the teams to become the customers preferred choice for soft drinks.
