My name is Jamie Hunt and my career with Princes started in 2008.  I was first attracted to the role because, having lived locally to the Wisbech manufacturing site, I was very aware that generations of people and families had worked for Princes over many years so I knew it was a very good place to work.

My first role within Princes was as a Senior Technical Operator. I was responsible for managing three packaging lines and a team of ten operators. The role was very enjoyable and taught me a lot about how production works. Furthermore, I developed a strong foundation in managerial and communication techniques, which I could build upon in future roles.  

After starting as a Senior Technical Operator, I worked my way up to Shift Coordinator. I was then asked to take secondment in another production department. During this secondment, I realised I had a passion for Continuous Improvement; not only in equipment and process but also human behaviours.

Equally, my biggest professional challenge to date came when I swapped departments. The environment was completely different to what I had experienced up to that point and I had to rebuild relations with people. I changed my communication methods to suit the situation and the people. Taking people on the journey with me was the most essential part of overcoming the difficulties associated with change.

Today, I am employed as a Projects Coordinator, leading and supporting factory departments who are driving improvement projects, delivering site-wide training on work practices for the Princes Manufacturing System (PMS), leading site focus teams, facilitating Root Cause Analysis sessions to prevent reoccurrence of problems, exploring cost saving initiatives and coaching individuals. Every day, I am lucky enough to continue learning and developing as an individual.

The thing I am most proud of in my Princes career is witnessing the successful rollouts of standardisation projects which I have lead; they are both embedded and sustainable. Moreover, I was thrilled to play a lead role in creating Princes Operational Excellence Program for the site at Wisbech. It is an eight-module training program of the Princes Manufacturing Program and will be delivered to every employee on site so the impact will be far reaching.

What I enjoy most about my role is having the opportunity to coach, lead and witness positive changes in people and their behaviours.
