Mental Health Awareness Week at Princes
Today marks the launch of Mental Health Awareness Week, the UK’s national week to raise awareness of mental health.
The week, which is hosted by the Mental Health Foundation, is in its 22nd year and runs from 9-15 May.
Mental health is something that is important to us at Princes. It is why we recently launched our own Mental Health Awareness Initiative as part of the company’s Health & Wellbeing campaign.
It is also something that is personal to Joe Dent, Chief People Officer for Princes, who has suffered from anxiety for many years.
Earlier this year, Joe made a video in which he talked about his anxiety, his coping mechanisms and the support he has received from fellow Board members as well as his colleagues.
In March, we announced the expansion of our Mental Health First Aider Programme after a successful trial at two of our canning sites.
The Programme is now being extended to all six of our other sites across the UK, including our head office in Liverpool, ahead of a planned international roll-out. We are delighted that a number of colleagues have volunteered to get involved.
We have several events planned to mark Mental Health Awareness Week, including a Q&A with Neil Waine from Andy’s Man Club, and encouragement for colleagues to catch up over a cuppa.
