Reporting to the Senior Technical Account Manager (G5) and working in close partnership with the customer facing technical team. The role of the Assistant Technical Account Manager covers all areas of retailer account support which are required. The ATM will be required to ensure that all account management aspects as required are completed correctly and within agreed timescales.


The ATM will be required to support the Customer Technical Account team in the overall technical management of retail and business to business accounts and will support other aspects of the business and other teams as required in order to service the account requirements.


The role requires the ATM to establish excellent relationships with internal business colleagues, Customer technical contacts and suppliers.




  • Substantial liaison internally across all levels of management and externally to customers and suppliers.
  • Representation of the Company within the specified customer base on food business related to the category / Customer or product area allocated.
  • To build excellent professional working relationships and work proactively with key customers supporting their specific technical business requirements.
  • Requirement for U.K. and foreign travel which will be dependent on customer, category and product area needs.





  • Take the lead in the review and management of KPI reports linked to you customer and / or product groups and assist in the preparation of other customer KPI reports.
  • Support the customer facing technical team as required in all aspects of the overall management of the retail and business to business accounts.
  • Act as the point of contact in all communications linked to your areas of responsibility.
  • Manage where required and technical related product issues and lead communication both externally with suppliers and customers and internally to ensure speedy and satisfactory resolution.
  • Lead and coordinate product assessment and product development activities linked to product or quality issues.
  • Assist in the preparation of and follow up to customer factory inspections/audits and assist in the preparation of and follow up to any other customer factory inspections/audits.
  • Support the Technical Controller and Technical Account Managers in the development of account strategies.
  • Support the Technical Account Managers in the day to day management of retailer and food service accounts.
  • Assist in the management of quality issues where required, both externally with suppliers and customers, and internally with various functions to ensure speedy and satisfactory resolution.
  • Communicate customer Codes of Practice to all supplier as required.
  • Provide assistance to the Group Customer Technical department where required to aid the smooth running of the Technical function.



  • Deputise in the absence of the Technical Controller.
  • Deputise in the absence of the Technical Account Manager(s).
  • Deputise in the absence of the other Technical Executives / Assistant Technical Managers.
  • Deputise in the absence of the Specification Manager & / or Technologist.

  • Degree or equivalent in a food or other in related discipline or equivalent work related experience.
  • Formal qualification in HACCP (at least Level 2) and basic food safety training.
  • Experience of working within food manufacturing.
  • Experience of working with retail customers and of customer expectations and requirements.
  • Computer literate, including excel, word and PowerPoint.
  • An understanding with formal training in the use of retailer online system.
  • Experience of drafting and generating formal retailer reports.
  • Analysis and interpretation skills.
  • Communication and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to prepare and give presentations (internal to all levels / external to customers)
