  • Operating within the Princes Fish Commercial team
  • Liaison with Global Fish suppliers.
  • Internal contacts – Buying; Operations; Sales; Marketing ;Technical; NPD; Logistics; Legal; Finance; Treasury; Customer Services, Planning and Stock control Teams.
  • External contacts- all suppliers in relevant areas of responsibility, customer Buyers to support Commercial team plus relevant Trade organisations and NGO’s
  • Work closely with the Senior Buyer and Commercial Controller to deliver the purchasing strategy for the Business Sector.

 

Principal Responsibilities

 

  • Liaison with suppliers
  • To understand the role/responsibilities of the Purchasing function & to provide appropriate support when required.
  • Work with the marketing and buying team to successfully bring to market profitable NPD through conducting supplier research and relevant exhibitions or supplier trips.
  • Management of contracts and Purchase Info records onto SAP
  • Maintaining currency & providing recommendation to senior buyer
  • Responsible for the creation, management and sharing of business KPI reports/dashboards and following up queries/issues.
  • Responsible for organisation and management of supplier sampling sessions.
  • Support in the identification and implementation of cost saving initiatives.
  • Updating SAP /spreadsheets for contracts and costings and overall data management eg product code lists
  • Lead the collation and update of business information eg business plans or supplier presentations.
  • Assist in ensuring that the best information is obtained from suppliers with regard to market trends, pricing fluctuations and forecasts so that Princes remains the leading provider of information in the markets we operate in.
  • Ensure that the company procedures and processes in place for the purchase and inventory control of items purchased are adhered to including the management of foreign currency requirements where applicable.
  • Assist in researching and developing sources of supply and ensure that tender processes utilise all available technology.
  • Work closely with Operations, Planning, NPD, Sales and Marketing on all product procurement issues, tracking projects closely and communicating progress updates.
  • Responsibility for product knowledge presentations & complete any required updates.
  • Responsibility to manage own development and also support the training for new starters within the team.
  • Represent Senior Buyer as required
  • Ensure compliance with Code of Conduct, systems, policies and rules

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

 

  • Some buying experience, ideally within FMCG environment but not essential
  • Strong organisational skills with a methodical / structured approach
  • Knowledge of SAP

 

  • Good analytical and numeracy skills
  • Good commercial awareness
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Self-motivated
  • Strong communication & team working skills
  • Preferable fish eater
  • Willingness to travel to customers/suppliers UK and Abroad
  • Full UK Driving Licence
