Commercial Graduate Programme for 2022 now open
We are pleased to announce the launch of the new Princes Commercial Graduate Programme for 2022.
Next year we have three places available and we’re expecting competition to be fierce.
In 2021, despite the challenges of the pandemic, we made it a priority to continue with our graduate scheme. More than 855 graduates applied and we had to close the scheme seven weeks early due to the record demand.
As a company, we are constantly growing and adapting to provide the best quality products to our customers, so we are looking for similarly ambitious and driven individuals with a genuine interest in a fast-paced career in FMCG to come on board.
Why join us? Well, Princes is on an exciting journey. We recently won the Best Training Initiative at the Food Management Today Industry Awards 2021 for our Commercial Graduate Programme.
And we were also named Employer of the Year at The Grocer’s Gold Awards 2021, where we were praised for our Commercial Graduate Scheme, our People Excellence Strategy and our quarterly Pride in Princes awards programme.

So what can a commercial graduate at Princes expect?
Our graduates are based in our Liverpool Head Office Liverpool for the duration of the Programme.
Straight from the start, they gain real, on-the-job experience, spending eight months at a time rotating across Sales, Marketing and Buying, learning from the best and being supported with a tailored, award-winning, learning and development programme.
During their time with us, we give our graduates every opportunity to explore different areas of the business and our many different brands.
From day one, they have a chance to make a difference and we give them stretching objectives during each of their three 8 month rotations – all designed to develop them whilst also driving business performance.
We also provide our graduates with all the tools and experience they need to succeed.
Alongside this, our graduates receive a highly competitive salary, a great benefits package and the opportunity to achieve professional qualifications.
Next year’s cohort will also have the chance to gain a nationally recognised Level 4 Associate Project Manager Apprenticeship (including APM membership).
Since it began in 2009, our Commercial Graduate Scheme has seen many of our Graduates progress into senior management positions and we are looking for more future leaders to join us in 2022.
Zac Excell, 24, is one of our Commercial Graduates currently completing a Marketing rotation in our Fish team. He joined Princes in September 2020 after graduating from Aston University, where he did a degree in Business Management.
He said: “I have had two very exciting and challenging rotations. Sales was rewarding due to the strong sense of accountability and tangible outcomes when my hard work paid off by overcoming the allocation, production, and relationship barriers.
“In my current role, I am accountable for supporting a wide range of marketing mix activities including social, website, ECRM campaigns, new product development and brand positioning projects. My final rotation will be in buying.
“A highlight was bringing a brand-new product to market from implementation to launch in a tight deadline. I was marketing lead for the project and I managed the design artwork sign off process, ran sample sessions and liaised with various internal and external stakeholders from buying and packaging to technical and creative agencies.
“Seeing the final product on shelf in one of the UK’s largest retailers is very exciting.”
Zac’s advice to graduates? “Be open-minded to the different roles available on the Commercial Graduate Scheme and be enthusiastic when applying,” he said. “Also, Princes owns an extensive group of brands, so thorough research is key.”
