Case Study – Remmelt Jongkind – Group Director (Europe), Netherlands
When I started my career, I was looking for an FMCG company with a practical mentality where I could learn on the job and grow my skills.
I found it in Princes.
My first job was in Liverpool as a marketing assistant to a Product Manager. Twenty-five years later, I have worked my way up through numerous roles – I’ve been a marketing manager, marketing controller and marketing director – to becoming Group Director (Europe) in the Netherlands responsible for our European business both commercially and operationally.
I helped to put the foundations in place to grow our successful Napolina brand to the £150 million brand that it is today. Over the past eight years I’ve grown our team in the Netherlands from 23 to 85 people with offices in Rotterdam, Warsaw and Paris.
I’ve helped to strategically grow our factories, our key brands and the size of our business in Europe into a profitable long term and sustainable business which champions sustainability, good environmental practice, recycling and ethically sourced raw materials.
I’ve learnt a lot, have worked with some great teams and individuals and have always had opportunities to progress. When I was made the youngest ever director in Princes I thought it was too soon for me, but my boss believed in me and encouraged me to crack on with it.
It has been an exciting journey.
People coming to work at Princes today will join a dynamic company with bags of chances to push themselves, learn new skills, develop their career and also play their part in making a difference to what we do both today and for generations to come.
“Princes is a down-to-earth challenger company with lots of opportunities for people to grow and develop.”
