Case Study – Nizam Tagan – Factory Manager, Princes Tuna Mauritius
The Princes Tuna Mauritius operation is one of the most technologically advanced tuna processing facilities in the world.
I joined the company in 1989 as a Quality Controller where my role was to carry out routine checks on production.
Since then, I have progressed through the ranks from a trainee production manager to a production manager and now factory manager. Today I lead the operations on three sites in Mauritius and I am proud of my team.
I enjoy working to a high standard and under pressure and each day is busy.
It could include starting with a safety review with the Health & Safety Office, a meeting with the Quality Assurance Manager or an update on cooking performance from the Cooking Manager.
Then I’ll review operations with the Production Manager, check in with the Jar Facility Manager and make sure everything is working well in the packing department.
There are always various projects to co-ordinate, factory tours and meetings to chair and supply chain and operations activities to oversee.
Throughout my career with Princes I have always had the full support and guidance of my managers and a wide variety of internal, external and on-the-job training.
“The best thing about working for Princes is that there is always an opportunity to learn and grow.”
