Case Study – Lucy Parfitt – Graduate Buying Executive (Seafood)
I’m currently an apprentice on the Associate Project Management Programme. I am working towards this qualification alongside my role as Princes Commercial Graduate. My current role in the business is a Buying Executive within Seafood.
I joined Princes straight from the University of Liverpool in September 2021 and during the past 16 months I have been able to spend time in three different areas of the business.
When looking for a role on a graduate scheme after university, the Princes scheme was a great fit as I was unsure at the time the specialised area I wanted to move into in my career. To have the opportunity to spend time in different parts of the business, and to work for a large corporate organisation, really appealed to me.
Studying for the Project Management qualification has given me the chance to work with other graduates and people from different organisations as well as different social backgrounds. This programme is not just solely for Princes employees. We have discussed large and small projects and how to adapt what we have learnt to these different types of projects.
Since joining Princes, the main skills for life I have learnt is to be a sponge! Try to take onboard as much information as you can whether that be from colleagues you work with or internal and external customers. Get as much experience as you can.
